OK, obviously this was written when I was in another place (physically and mentally). Some biz-arre town named Grand Junction Colorado or whatever. But the CD rocks still so I’m sharing. They have all new stuff too, so hit them up.
Writing reviews the past few weeks has been hard. I had one I needed to [...]

I’ve listened to this CD so many times I can hold it up and see my hand through it. Yes. I’m addicted.
The band has a wonderful flavor of Cranberries nicely mixed with the song writing skills of Garbage’s Shirley Manson and the sometimes semi-manic tang of Cocteau Twins. There’s too much too good to say [...]

The Good Listeners are a good listen - let’s get that clear right away. Sweet, sparse alt rock with intelligence.
See the thing is, I always get a sinking feeling when I come across a CD that has a “concept” and The Good Listeners’ concept was especially frightening. Their plan - lock themselves in a rented [...]

Stereocell’s CD notes don’t list musicians who may have influenced the band’s sound, but if Incubus isn’t one of them then lead singer Todd Riffel is a pseudonym of Brandon Boyd. Whatever.
I’m going to give my notes as I listened:
Vocals sound like Incubus.
Call this guitar-driven rock.
“Suicide Hotline” a nice tune with great backing vocals.
“Die Trying” [...]

Thanks to the high-decibel exposure I’ve been getting from local bands, harder and harder rock is appealing to me more and more. So The Sammus Theory came to the top of the stack at just the right time. Great sounds riding the edge of metal and lyrics riding the edge of insanity.

Just got handed Little Daytona’s “The Freshman Class” - can I say one more time the talent in this town amazes me?
Little Daytona brings together Blackjack, K-nyne, Kialie and L.nix in a 13 song CD that mixes everything from hardcore rap, the smoothest of hip hop - and don’t kill me if I say it [...]

I always cringe when I get a CD from British boy singers (even when they’re actually American). I never think I’m going to break open the next Beatles or Rolling Stones, instead, I’m terrified of another Oasis. You remember them - the pseudo-alternative, pseudo-intelligent, pseudo-fill-in-the-blanks band that ruined radio for seven months or so.

“The Curse” is aptly named. It describes 75 percent of this CD’s lyrics and pretty much sums up the way I felt after listening to it. I’m giving it the tag line: Music for misogynists who like their women to degrade themselves so they don’t have to.
I can’t find anything to recommend to listeners on [...]

If you said the exquisite sound of Rada Neal’s piano (and not something totally snarky), you win an exclusive invitation to be inspired and transported far beyond any run-of-the-mill, symphony-of-the-week piano solo collection.
